For those in the blogging arena, Izea’s KMart Shopping Spree Campaign it should not come as a big surprise that turned out to be a huge marketing success. So big that I dare to say it has set new standards against which social media specialists (from all around the globe) will now have to measure their own marketing efforts.
Among other things, Izea’s success in this campaign can be attributed to the fact that it was done by bloggers for other bloggers. Since bloggers know how other bloggers think, it is only natural that Izea’s effort has given KMart such a marketing push.
Consumers tend to believe more what other consumers say about a product than what corporate advertising peddle to them, and most bloggers ARE consumers themselves, so the effect is obvious. The sponsored bloggers who participated in Izea’s KMart campaign wrote about spread like wildfire among other bloggers thus, giving KMart an unprecedented exposure and increased sense of trust among consumers.

With this campaign, Izea has again proven to its users (and why not, to itself) that social media marketing IS a serious, powerful tool that every company (regardless of its size) should count on. Two thumbs-up!
