Roses beachLast night I receive an invitation from a long-lost friend from Spain, to meet him and his family in Roses, Gerona. In fact I never heard before about Roses, so I decided to Google it and I found some really cool things like its location, in the province of Gerona at Cataluña, Spain, not too far from Madrid.

The thing that struck me the most (being from Argentina and having many relatives in Spain) is that the origin of the name Roses didn’t comes from English language as you might have thought.

Actually, it comes from a Catalan word Rosas, Roses in English, so it means the same as in English. Can’t deny the common root of the word, can I?

suquet de peixThe city has a population of almost 18.000 Hab. And their principal activity is tourism offering a lot of things to do so if you visit the town, you might actually have an incredible experience in there. I plan to do the trip in about a month, so I’m already searching for hotels to stay with my wife, Patricia.

I can’t wait to visit my friend and walk about the museums, old-town streets and taste the delicious Catalan food. I hear the “Suquet de peix” (a mixed fish and seafood casserole) is one of the Roses’ food specialties.

If you’re planning visit Roses during this summer probably you need to find cheap hotels, so you can use Destinia’s hotel locator for Spain. I’ll post a video of my trip to Roses, so you can envy me.
